At Silicon Valley Woodturners, Ironman Awards are given to people who finish all the President's Challenges in a year.
What are President's Challenges?
The president's challenges are a set of turning projects that the members are asked to do (one per month). At the end of each year, the president of the club will announce the set of challenges for the coming year. Members get to present their work at the general meeting every month. Members who do the president's challenge in any given month are also recognized in the newsletter. We usually do not have a meeting in December. In lieu of the meeting we have a holiday banquet and gift exchange. We ask the members to present their December president's challenge along with the November president's challenge.

At the beginning of the year in January members are given a chance to do makeups of the challenges they missed to do the previous year. The Ironman Awards are handed out in February to the members who managed to finish all the challenges of the previous year. We have records of the Ironman going back to 2004. From 2004 to 2018 the names of the Ironman winners were announced in the newsletters and were also recognized during the general meeting. In 2019 a new tradition of giving out an actual award (more like the Oscars in Hollywood) was started.
